Choosing and Cleansing Crystals

CHOOSING A CRYSTAL

When choosing a crystal, you want to go with what feels right for you. Typically, it is better if you can touch and feel the crystal before claiming it as yours - but in today’s world, that may not be possible for some. Use your intuition, if it feels right and you are drawn to it, it may be meant for you!

If you are able to hold them before claiming, take your time, take a few deep breathes and follow your energy and intuition. Sometimes a crystal will vibrate or heat up in your hand, this is its energy connecting with yours and you should probably take it with you.

Other things to consider when purchasing a crystal is the reasoning behind obtaining it. Are you using it as a healing tool or simply as décor? If you are intending for the crystal to be a healing tool, you will need to look at which crystals will best help you with what you are trying to heal. For example, if you are having trouble with nightmares, you may pick a small, tumbled piece of amethyst to put underneath your pillow. Maybe you're an artist and you are having a creative block; wearing a piece of citrine can activate and help inspire your natural creativity!

CLEANSING YOUR CRYSTALS

(And other items!)

There are various ways to cleanse your crystals and it's mostly up to each individual, with a few exceptions, due to their chemical make up and their tendencies to disintegrate - such as selenite.

  • Hold under running water - streams, waterfalls, faucets, etc.

  • Immerse in the sea or salt water.

  • Place in sun/moon light.

  • Submerge in herbal smoke

Carnelian, Quartz and Selenite have the ability to cleanse other stones. Place your stone on top of one of these crystals to charge it. Make sure to charge your Carnelian & Quartz after a few uses and be sure to give them a rest once in a while. Crystals will take care of you, if you take care of them.
