How it is formed: Carnelian is a chalcedony and gemstone used for royal jewelry in ancient times, and is still popular today! Sometimes mixed up with Jasper for its looks, carnelian is more transparent than Jasper, which is opaque. Carnelian is most popularly mined in the United States (in New Jersey and Oregon), Brazil, Siberia, Uruguay, and India.
Color: Most commonly recognized as translucent red with brown tones, but can range from orange to dark black.

It is also believed to be mentioned in the Bible, in Revelation 4:3 and 21:20, it is described that the foundations of the wall of the Heavenly City look like jasper and sardius
