How it is formed: A glass crystal that is out of this world, the origin of moldavite is suspected to have come from a meteorite shower that happened in Germany 15 million years ago! It was first discovered near the Moldau river in Bohemia, Czech Republic in 1786 but it wasn’t recognized of its cosmic origins until 1900. Franz Eduard Suess noticed that moldavite didn’t get its natural markings from water, but that it resembled similar markings to meteorites. Moldavite has only appeared in Austria, Germany, and the Czech Republic.
Color: olive or forest green, sometimes with a blue hue
