How it is formed: Pink Quartz has only been found in pegmatites, near smoky Quartz formations at high temperatures in a hydrothermal environment. In the book “Quartz Family Minerals” published in 1938, there was a new discovery of pink crystals found in Maine, USA but they didn’t really get recognized until 1959 when large amounts were found in Brazil. Commonly intertwined with rose quartz due to the similar colors, pink Quartz is created in a different environment and its color is developed from different mineral deposits and will actually fade when in direct sunlight!
