Celebrating Us.

Finally, I was going to get to go off-roading in Sedona without being on a tour with a bunch of strangers and a tour guide. Not that I didn't enjoy the Pink Jeep Tours in Sedona, in fact - I would still book a tour after going twice already - I was just so damn excited to be with my man, with us in control of where we go, when we go and how FAST we go!!! 😋 I have been wanting to ride the trails in Sedona since the first Jeep tour I took about 3 years ago. I am obsessed with stopping and looking for cool rocks and learning about the plants. I try my best to capture the beauty that surrounds me yet I am a huge believer that a photo will never do this world justice. I try to snap some photos then put my camera down in order to take in the fresh air and beautiful views.

That's exactly what we did - we sat on one of the beautiful red rock boulder groups, dangled our feet and enjoyed each others company. In the back ground you could hear the faint sound of our country music coming from the Pathfinder, other than that, it was complete silence with no one else around. I took it all in with some deep breathes. River comments on how he never can get over how huge and open the world still is. We would later get upset by the sight of new homes and businesses being built in an areas that was scarce of buildings, right outside of town. Humans - destroying beautiful land for un-needed things.

Although River and I had a really great time exploring the trails of Sedona, I couldn't help but notice the energy in the town felt a bit blah. I made many comments along our short two-day trip that I was trying really hard to shake the mood but for some reason I was just irritable - I felt like everyone we came into contact with, whether it be, hikers or people in their side by sides - they seemed to just be in bad moods - just blah. I don't remember seeing more than one stranger this trip, smile… It was sad... Unfortunately, I did let it affect my trip a little but NOT completely! :)

We finished our trip by going down the Diamond Back Gulch Trail, rock hounding and listening to music. Then headed down the mountain for our roughly 2.5-hour drive home -to which I fell asleep on.

We were welcomed home by Bongo and Zoey and were really proud pup parents when the house was the way we left it! This was their first time staying a night alone at the house and they were such good puppers! :)

We went on this short trip to celebrate each other. We both have come so far in this past year - both healing and growing from our own demons. The first night that we were in Sedona, we put on some fancier clothing (we are super casual people) and went to a nice restaurant in downtown Sedona, Creekside Bistro. He had Ahi Nachos and Calamari Caesar Salad and I opted for the Spinach, Herb and Roasted Tomato Stuffed Chicken Breast with Rice. We were not disappointed as well as not too surprised with the damage to the wallet. Very affordable, especially when you save money on your hotels!
